Mel is a multidisciplinary artist and storyteller. Their practice centres around reconnecting to their Fijian (Daku Village, Tailevu), Tongan (Leimatu’a, Vava’u), and Samoan (Upolo, Moata’a, Apia) roots through creating work around pre-colonial mythology and lived experiences. Their work also aids in the education and reconnection of other diasporic individuals, in an easy, accessible way. Mel has a background in fine arts with previous experience in galleries, markets, pop-up stores, producing events, teaching lectures, and much more.
